I am 28 years old and I have decided that I am going to run for Mayor of Austin, Texas in 2009. People may wonder why, at such a young age, I will be running for such a position with no previous political experience, so I will just be upfront and brutally honest with you. Most of the people in City Hall have so much money that they don't have the problems of us regular citizens, and since they don't have those problems they can't imagine what it will take to fix these problems, so instead, they spend all of their time trying to fix what is not broken. As Mayor, I would fix the problems they ignore. First of all our educational system is being flushed down the toilet. Our public transportation system is being severely neglected. Our homeless rate is sky rocketing more and more every year. Our mental health problems continue to increase. City Hall doesn't realize that in order to solve the homeless problem you must also address the mental health problems within our city, due to the fact that a portion of our homeless population also requires mental health assistance. Meanwhile, City Hall tries to outlaw pan handling for the safety of the homeless population. This "out of sight, out of mind" mentality will only give the illusion that we have solved the homeless problem in Austin.
