Durand Bernarr was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He started preparing for the start of a fresh new taste in music while still in his mother's womb and on September 16th, 1988, he burst into the world with a story to tell... his.Unlike other young male artists, Durand likes to stay true to his roots with music. He may have some beats with pizazz and booty-shakin' to it but he never forgets to have a meaningful message in the lyrics.With influences such as Kelis, Joi Gilliam, Maxwell, YahZarah, India.Arie, Jill Scott,, K-Os, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, Earth, Wind & Fire and Erykah Badu have helped him shape his eclectic style, but experiencing life in such an unexplainable way is the true influence.Being the only child and home-schooled until 17yrs old, Durand spent time with his mother (who is known as Cleveland's foremost worship leader) and Father (sound engineer for some of the best artists in the business). He was immediately passionate about music; began singing before the foundation of the world when God thought to create him, but in a literal sense, at age 3, writing songs at age 8 and composing/arranging music at age 12.This quadruple threat (Singer, writer, dancer and ability to persuade) artist is a breath of fresh air; bringing to the table uncut, raw and unapologetic material to the music world."There are things happening to people out in the world and it seems like not enough people are getting down and dirty enough in the music or the lyrics.
