A professional musician for the past 25 years, and sonic scuptor since 1982, when I built the Giant Wind Harp featured in the 1983-89 Guinness World Book of Records. I discovered the Harp in 1976, and have evolved my electric harp after many prototypes and experiments. My current loveliest harp is a 1933 Lyon-Healy Pedal Harp, model 22. Same model as played by Harpo Marx in some of his 1930's movies. Every string has a pickup, and the bass strings have magnetic pickups as well. 46 strings and 57 pickups. I was a guitarist in a Surf Music band in the early 60's and bring forth some of that sound into the liquid textures the electric harp can provide. I believe in the power of bass, and wish to express more of that. The harp has lots of full bass when brought forth through the amplified world, and I love feeling that big fat sound combined with the ethereal harp tones. Heaven on Earth....Female and Male joined. Also an important element of the harp is how its sympathetic resonance transfers from the higher strings through the bass wires, and it is picked up in a sensitive way that we do not usually get to hear. I learned this from wind harps, and it is an important part of the magic that makes harps unique.
