Mention is often made of the threat of extinction faced by elephants, gorillas and whales. It is rare to hear of the impending extinction of giraffes and yet it is of great concern to Western Africa where a group of only 165 white giraffes remains in the south of the Niger - the last remaining West African giraffes.
