I had sent in a lyrical letter to the editor about an op-ed piece on America called the Lexington (which on the June 28th issue discussed the politics of hip hop), and thought they decided against using it had actually been put in their online letters to the editor section called The Inbox. Hip hop and politics are tip top topic pics, And in my fav op-ed that i'm always followin? Well they just asking for me to write a response. But it will be better if I write it in song. Sir I saw what you said about spittable rhymes, They solve about as much as shouting biblical lines. But you missed on the merits, some in this song I'm sharin, So you don't dismiss, all that this genre's bearin. In the lines of a rap, many more words are spun, Than in other kinds of tracks, where the verse is sung. So much closer to prose, but in spoken poetics, Ears will open for those, with the dopest phonetics, Activist can advocate, but the apathetic don't listen, When rappers can captivate, while still spreadin a vision. Even though there are weaknesses here and there (like the cavemen masks aren't very convincing), I like almost everything about. It avoids most Sword & Sandal cliches, the direction is solid and best of all Georges Marchal is great in it. Not only does he look great but he gives a believable performance which is no mean feat for a Peplum film.
