http://www.ted.com n clear, nontechnical language, string theorist Brian Greene explains how our understanding of the universe has evolved from Einstein's notions of gravity and space-time to superstring theory, where minuscule strands of energy vibrating in 11 dimensions create every particle and force in the universe. (This mind-bending theory may soon be put to the test at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva.)

Aug 9, 2008 - I just think its so funny when people who know nothing of physics and dont have an open mind are so quick to debunk someones thoughts. Thats why this world is in such slow progression. Humans are closed minded and want to live in their safe little shell trying to protect something not even theirs.

jcs75050 Says:

Aug 9, 2008 - that is a really good thought. I agree with that.

R1COs Says:

Aug 10, 2008 - jcs75050 unfortunately it's still true what you're saying about most humansto qoute a good writer: "Humans believe that they must believe what they believe, even if what they believe is unbelievable!"To this respect it's sad one could even say that a Pinocchio is more real that an average human being. Having typed that I can't decide wether to cry or laugh now.

daswann14 Says:

Aug 10, 2008 - Universal String Theory will be our savior. I mean that as a double-entadra for those that don't realize I'm an atheist. =)

Crazylalalalala Says:

Aug 10, 2008 - hasn't the universal string theory been disproved recently? theoretical physics seems a lot like religion these days. "We cant see it, we cant prove it, it only works when we add this or that......the string theory just dont seem to be all that reasonable at this time.

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - "But what they will discover down there is probably some zen buddist monk saying: "Hello guys, What took you so long?"Well yes.. But zen buddist monks leave itat that, instead of trying to discoverwhy things are one, and what this onenessencompasses.Scientists will eventually availin that field, if that knowledge revealsitself to be attainable at all.

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - But it boils down to this; It's not very useful to understandthat a jigsaw puzzle is made up ofjigsaw pieces, if you can't understandwhat makes a jigsaw piece a jigsaw pieceto begin with.

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - "nothing which is observed stays uneffected by the observer" the first law of quantum physics."Then how come we never withness telekineses, and are completely unable to perform such ?After all, many small changes should sooneror later produce a larger (observable) change.

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - "Why are those numbers so finely tuned? Hmmmmm, anyone?"Because there was no other way for themto exist in their fixed 'instruments'.

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - "the universe isnt 13 billion years old. Our time is an illusion generated by the Earths rotation around the sun."Can you read this ?That proves time is real !

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - "Theres has to be SOMETHING out there. Knowing how many dimensions there are is not going to solve the problem of why we are here."Neither would the existence of 'SOMETHING'.

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - "ust caz ur an atheist doesnt mean ur smart. u dont know if god exists or not, nobody does"Just because you think nobody knows wheter'god' exists or not doesn't make you righthypocrit.

PadawanGeek Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - so you have a theory and because it won't work, you just make up a new dimension? lol

R1COs Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - godverdegodverdomme"Then how come we never withness telekineses, and are completely unable to perform such ?"Because you can't do it if humanity as a collective still sees itself seperate from God (Life) . This seperate state causes it to try to define what God (Life as a whole) is. the real state of God has no form is therefore formless (the lifeform Eckart Tolle can explain you this much better than I can) ;-)besides this I wouldn't recommend naming my little self "GodDamnmMe.

R1COs Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - furthermore I think it's also useless to make each other "right" or "wrong" as human beings on a website like youtube. Save your time meditating or something else of a similar activity. This in itself will reveal the answers to the questions you're actually looking for.the illusion of disunity was created for a good reason. namely to experience the bliss of unity once again. think about it carefully and you'll find it to be true.Namaste,R1C0

tetranoob Says:

Aug 13, 2008 - An ant crawling round a tiny circle doesn't make appear like another dimension. It appears as part of our visible 3 dimensions. Is anybody else confused by this?

nfwu Says:

Aug 15, 2008 - tetranoob:Imagine a fifth dimension that is small and circular. This is the idea that he was trying to get across, with the example of an ant on a space with one long dimension and one short dimension (we would see the space as a 1D space when it was in fact 2D).

papatoony Says:

Aug 15, 2008 - Time is quantified eternity.

tekemperor Says:

Aug 17, 2008 - Yeah that's pretty much how science works. If your hypothesis turns out not to work, you come up with a new one. If it seems reasonable, you test it. If it passes, good, you've got a theory. If it fails, repeat.

sumfamousperson17 Says:

Aug 17, 2008 - It's a bit more complicated than that I believe.

sumfamousperson17 Says:

Aug 17, 2008 - Brian Greene, I love you. Will you marry me?

ThinkFirst08 Says:

Aug 18, 2008 - why ten dimensions? why not 11 or 7.3333?

godverdegodverdomme Says:

Aug 18, 2008 - "besides this I wouldn't recommend naming my little self "GodDamnmMe."I didn't, it's a rather intranslatable curse, meaning something along the lines of'goddamnthegoddamnit'.But please do tell how a collectiveof uninformed people, influence theabilities of individuals who know betterthen that, and thus seperate themselvesfrom that group, because that doesn'tmake a whole lot of sense.

R1COs Says:

Aug 19, 2008 - In order for us as a collective to experience the essence of that wich we truly are wich best can be described in words as: Love, Truth & Joy there has to be an option for us NOT to Be all of the above or experience the related counter-energies in some other parts of us (circumstances), this creates a contextual field (realm of the relative) within wich we could re-create our selfs as a certain Being. In the absence of that wich you are NOT, That wich you Are is NOT! It's logical & mathematical

R1COs Says:

Aug 19, 2008 - In the absence of Cold, Hot is NOT. In the absence of DisUnity, Unity is NOT. In the absence of Fear, Love is NOT. In the absence of Ignorance (uninformed), knowledgable(informed) is NOTI hope this will have informed you some ;-)but don't take my words for it, if you're really ready to know again the master/teacher will appear within. yes I know. this sounds crazy and seems to put you world up side down. but it actually puts it right side up again...
