This song is the meanest, sickest parody song ever, probably the reason that a sick bastard like me loves it so much. It was a parody of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall", done expertly by radio legend Steve Dahl (with his band "Steve Dahl & Teenage Radiation") in Chicago. It was recorded and aired in 1980 somewhere right around the time of John Wayne Gacy's trial (Feb. '80) for the rape and murder of 33 boys and young men between 1972 and his arrest in 1978. Gacy would lure men and boys to his house with the promise of work for his construction company or drugs and alcohol, then he would assault and kill them and bury them in his crawlspace, sometimes even assaulting them after they were dead (nice guy, eh? glad he's goddamn dead!!)Some of the story with this song is that Steve stopped playing it when families of the victims complained. I've never heard verification of that, but that story has been quoted on Wikipedia and a couple of other places that I looked at online. I've heard Steve play it many other times long after those days, but I'm sure it's still upsetting to some. I don't think Steve meant it to be cruel, just brutally honest, not to mention funny as hell in a sick way. That's what satire does, it's not always nice, it peels away all restrictions and leaves bare the stark, harsh reality. (My philosophical rant for the day.)Steve Dahl is really the true forerunner of the inaptly titled 'shock' radio format that is usually credited to people like Howard Stern or Don Imus. The truth is there was no one like Steve before Steve. He's been doing free-form comedy radio since the mid 70's in Detroit (He was actually replaced by Howard Stern on WWWW, as featured in the "Private Parts" movie, when Steve left for Chicago) and after that he's been a consistent trend setter and top rated radio personality in Chicago for the last 30 years.STEVE DAHL Quote:"I always used to get ticked off when I would get lumped in with Howard Stern as being a 'shock' jock. I guess I did shock people, but I did it unintentionally. It comes out of who I am."Even in the Howard Stern movie "Private Parts" the time line proves that Steve Dahl was pioneering free-form comedy radio while Howard, and many others, were still fairly lame. (I do like Howard, and there is no denying his success or that fact that he's taken comedy radio to another level, but the only time I get annoyed is when he acts like he invented comedy radio! He did take it to a new level later, but he didn't start it, that is just a fact.) Sure, there were others pushing the envelope in radio back then, but no one took it as far as Steve Dahl did. I guess it's true, the pioneers get the arrows while the settlers get the land. This song is just further proof of Steve Dahl's genius, and the fact that he's just funny, truly a comedian and satirist, something that seems to get overshadowed when people say "DJ" or "radio personality", IT'S COMEDY, and Steve is one of the best! A real original in comedy and radio, and a true legend!(This song is also available (in stereo!) on the box set "20 Years In The Can" which can be purchased via the DAHL.COM website. Well worth the purchase for any Steve Dahl fan, or even fans of comedy talk radio!)

Aug 15, 2008 - Ah yes, two Dahl classics for sure. Dirty White Boy with Marcus Palmer was hilarious! I was thinking of Heal Me the other day too, another classic parody, might be a good one for a video. Thanks for listening, I'm glad to see more Steve Dahl fans, and Dahl clips showing up here on YouTube.

Aug 19, 2008 - Hmm, I was born in '89 so I can't really relate to this, but I think my Dad ('56) will get a kick out of it :)

Aug 20, 2008 - That's understandable, though there really isn't much to it. Gacy was a murdering rapist that buried his victims in the crawlspace of his house. Part of the reason that they figured out where the bodies were was because of the stink. Nice place to visit, eh?Thanks for listening though, it is still a timeless classic.Later, Toast
