Sep 27, 2007 - I've always loved her, too. There is a gospel music compilation with her and Mahalia Jackson and for all the latter's miraculous voice, I find Dorothy's anointing more riveting. In fact, I found myself weeping uncontrolably at the sheer power exuding from this woman. And no one could tell a story in song like Dot. I had the privilege of seeing this performance when it was originally broadcast and it made a indelible impression then.

Apr 26, 2008 - I'm a long time Mahalia fan who has just discovered this woman.I love her rough smokey voice.She strikes me as sort of a gospel philosopher for lack of a better way of describing it.I found out she wrote her own stuff and her lyrics are deep and imaginative.Very good!
