Richard Farrelly, a Meath garda, wrote this song while travelling on a bus from his home in Kells to Dublin. The song, with different lyrics, was used as the theme song in John Ford's 1952 film, "The Quiet Man".Here it is sung by John Walsh at a session of The Hong Kong Folk Society at The Canny Man in Wanchai.

Dec 4, 2008 - GreetingsRaymond...Mr. Walsh's rendition here was very heart-warming indeed. He has a mighty fine vocal instrument and his guitar strumming is perfectly enmeshed in this fine presentation of a beloved classic ditty. Many thanks for this latest installment in this wonderful series.Peace,Stewball
