Chakufwa Chihana addresses South African press prior to boarding a plane for Malawi to challenge Dr Kamuzu Banda's system of government. Mr. Chihana was arrested on arrival at Kamuzu Airport as he got out of the plane. He was charged with treason and sentenced to 2 years in prison. He was released after 18 months, in time to cast a successful vote for a multi-party system of government for Malawi.
