Nov 19, 2008 - You do not mention the pianist, who is at least equally important in this excellent performance. Was it her husband Daniel Barenboim? Brahms himself was a marvelous pianist and wrote big virtuoso piano parts in his chamber works. It could almost be called a Sonata for Piano with Cello. Cellists won't like this! I am a pianist. The balance is mostly well done on this recording - so difficult with these two instruments.
