Nov 19, 2008 - Just because it started in Jamaica doesn't mean that just because other nationalities like to listen to reggae and try out for dancehall queen that they are trying to take something from you. And I'll have you know not all Americans have it easy like you think. Seems like you guys would be PROUD so many other people want to be a part of something so great! If hip-hop was like that, it never would've left NY but now it take over the WORLD! Quit being so closed minded...GEEZ!

realitiecheck Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - Trust me Americans have it WAY easier then them. I respect The Jamaican Females All the Way because I know What They Go Through. They live under laws that are way different then yours. I never stated anything bad about anyone else doing this but I just gave a Big Ups to the Jamaican women because I have seen their pain. By the way I do not live in Jamaica. But have lived there for months at times.

realitiecheck Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - First of all Hip Hop came from this yes it came from the Jamaican sound system culture. Second have you been to the garrisons in Jamaica? These people live their life different. They produced things to the world but they suffer.

dramaticblu Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - Well ALL of it came from Africa remember so let's not go into that. You cannot judge the American experience by what you see on tv. I respect the "suffering" but they are NOT the only people in the world who have it bad, even here. And by your rationale does the person from Jamaica who DOESN'T have a hard life loose respect JUST because they have it better financially? If so that's just as retarded as hip hop artist saying a person isn't a real rapper unless they come from the projects!

dramaticblu Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - That was never my point tho. My point is that Caribbean people- Jamaicans especially are so hard on people from other cultures who like dancehall and it is REALLY annoying. . I mean read the comments I identify with the music partially because of the riddim but also cuz of the underlying messages of overcoming adversity. That doesnt mean Im trying to "be" Jamaican...it just means I like the music and dancestyle.

dramaticblu Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - At parties when I dance people LOVE it until they find out Im American, then they snub me. Ive won Dancehall contest and they loved me until they saw I didn't have an accent. Just the fact that there is a debate over the girls nationality proves my point! It shouldn't matter as long as she does it JUSTICE and SHE DID, otherwise she wouldn't have won.

realitiecheck Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - I never said there was anything wrong with anyone else doing this. I have lots of American friends I listen to both American and Jamaican.

realitiecheck Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - The people commenting are not living in the garrisons. These are not the people I am talking about.

bigshot201 Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - Pan Africanism... Many things that happen in the culture of African descents are all related. Yes Hip Hop comes from reggae because it is an evolution in the Black popular music. fusion of reggae jazz blues R and B and even gang work songs. Does it matter?Life is hard.if you are sitting here on Youtube bitchin you dont know how hard it can be. The girl can dance. What about shisha or the dance crew blazin' in france? I hope the first martian DHQ gets crowned--One love

SweetAdvice Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - That conversation you are refering about started because someone had stated that they were not American but full Jamaican. Although that person was born in America. Realitie check was only stating that the other person could never relate to the hardship many Jamaican women go through in the Jamaican ghetteos. Where all this came from. Nothing wrong with anyone doing this competition. Just do not forget those who are not reaping from what they have done.

zazagirl92 Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - you can't make comparison with shisha and blazin dance crew! I think it isn't the same concept for the blazin. Anyway, contest exist just as an entertainment I think so we don't have to make a mountain out of a molehill just for that! Just dance, have fun and be quiet for all bad mind. Respect for all dancers who have the courage of make contest to keep dancehall alive.

Nov 19, 2008 - hip-hop does not come from reggae...who tha fuck told u that? where r u getting ur info? hip-hop stems from funk, soul, and rock n roll...which all stem from blues okay?

Tr0jaNite Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - LOL umm, do your fcking research.. Hip hop was inspired by Dub, which for your information, is from J-A-M-A-I-C-A. The same place that created reggae. I think you got the lineage a bit confused..

Leroy175 Says:

OldDanceVideos Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - It is true Hip Hop comes from Reggae Dub. Jamericans (Jamaicans who live in the states) introduced it to the states. It all comes from the sound system culture in Kingston JA.
